Lead strategy and engagement efforts for /u/NASA, the agency’s Reddit account. Assist with the collection and reporting of NASA’s digital metrics, working with cross-agency teams to improve metrics best practices. Lead NASA HQ’s social media planning for major agency events and campaigns, including NASA’s SpaceX Crew-3 and Crew-5 missions, Axiom Mission 1, and the launch of NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission.

Served as contract social media lead for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, creating content for Marshall’s flagship social media accounts and assisting with social media strategy throughout the center. Led Marshall’s social media metrics management and contributed to NASA’s digital metrics at the agency level; increased Marshall Facebook‘s social engagement totals by 500% in first year at MSFC. Wrote web features, supported media relations, and otherwise assisted with Marshall public affairs as needed.

Managed content and strategy across Science and News from Science‘s social pages. Wrote more than 100 posts weekly on scientific news and research for a combined social audience of over 7,000,000. Used social and web analytics to develop best practices and strategically explore opportunities in new media, including the establishment of Science‘s Reddit and Flipboard accounts. Worked with departments across Science to ensure that Science‘s social platforms were being accurately and optimally represented on sciencemag.org and elsewhere. Increased year-over-year social traffic by 50%.
Linguistic Society of America

As the LSA’s first Director of Communications, developed a Strategic Communications Plan to ensure a unified LSA presence across the web, social, email, and news media. Managed the LSA news page and social media platforms (increasing both the LSA’s web traffic and social audience by 75% in 1st year); wrote press releases on LSA research and announcements which received coverage in the New York Times and elsewhere. Managed promotion and PR for the LSA Annual Meeting. As resident policy expert, met with Congressional members and staff (on behalf of COSSA, the NHA, and other coalitions) in support of linguistic research funding and led a cross-society outreach campaign to encourage legislation in support of Native American language revitalization.
